Welcome to the Social Cognition Lab. We are housed in the School of Psychology at Victoria University of Wellington.
Our goal is to increase understanding of the social and cognitive mechanisms underlying social perception and behaviour using (primarily) experimental methodologies “borrowed” and adapted from cognitive psychology. The majority of the work focuses on the impressions that individuals form about various social targets – i.e., other individuals, groups, etc. – and the effect that these impressions have on judgments, evaluations, and behaviours toward those targets.
